Webinar: The Importance of Indoor Air Quality

February 5 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Speaker Bio
Max Hanning is an architectural consultant at IES. He joined the company after earning a Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Strathclyde. Max specialises in supporting architects to enhance the sustainability of their designs and achieve net-zero goals by reducing both operational and embodied carbon. His expertise also includes daylight and sunlight analysis, as well as overheating assessments. Passionate about sustainable architecture, Max actively promotes the integration of energy performance modelling into the design process. He is dedicated to inspiring architects to prioritise the environmental impact of their projects from very early-stage design.

Abstract
His presentation will explore indoor air quality assessment in collaboration with Indalo and IESVE. It will begin with a concise overview of indoor air quality, emphasising its critical role in health, well-being, and overall occupant comfort. He will discuss key factors influencing indoor air quality, such as ventilation, pollutant sources, and environmental conditions, while addressing its growing importance in sustainable design.

This will be followed by a live demonstration of the IESVE software and Indalo, showcasing how indoor air quality assessments can be seamlessly integrated using a VE energy model. The demonstration will highlight practical applications for identifying potential issues, optimising design solutions, and improving building performance to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Attendees will gain valuable insights into how integrating indoor air quality considerations early in the design process can contribute to healthier, more sustainable built environments.
