Webinar: High-temperature chemical heat pump systems with alloy selections, characterisations, simulation and experiment development
September 4 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
In an industrial steel plant, medium and low-temperature waste heat can be recovered using metal hydride (MH) heat pumps, which offer advantages like low carbon emissions, compactness, and high-temperature heat output. A funded project explores MH heat pumps through alloy selection, characterisation, dynamic simulation, and experimental development. Alloy selection focuses on operating temperatures and system efficiencies. Characterisation involves developing pressure, concentration, and temperature (PCT) models and reaction kinetics. Dynamic simulations use steady and transient CFD models with revised kinetic correlations. A test rig has been built for experimental measurements, aiming to optimize the MH heat pump system’s performance.
